Tallmadge police investigate bullet found on classroom floor

Was it just an April Fool’s prank?
No one knows for sure, but Tallmadge City Schools and the Tallmadge Police Department certainly didn’t think it was funny – and weren’t taking any chances – April 1 when a .22-caliber bullet was found on a classroom floor at Tallmadge High School around 10:30 a.m. The bullet was discovered during the first class of the day held in that room.
The building was immediately placed under lockdown while school authorities and law enforcement searched for any other ammunition or weapons-related items.
“The building was placed in soft lockdown while a thorough search was conducted,” the school district said in a statement. “Chief [Douglas] Bohon and multiple officers from the Tallmadge Police Department assisted in the search and investigation of the incident.”
Upon completion of the search, the building was returned to normal operation at 11:15 a.m.
“We are especially grateful to the administration, staff, and all students at the high school for their calm, thoughtful response and cooperation during today’s event,” the district stated. “Thank you to Chief Bohon and the officers involved for your fast response and guidance. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our families and community as we remain committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.”
