Documenter’s Notes
The meeting began with roll call of the council members and the Pledge of Allegiance. After the board approved the minutes of the previous council meeting, one of the council members read the reports of city officials.
Zoning
The approval of a conditional zoning certificate for an outdoor lot located at 41 Steels Corners Rd. for Falls Investment Properties, LLC, was recommended by the Planning Commission and accepted by the board.
Finance
Ordinance B-11 appropriating Community Development Block Grant Carryover Funds for calendar year 2025.
City Improvements & Community Development
The director of public service can now enter contracts for the resurfacing, repair and preservation of streets in the city of Cuyahoga Falls.
To increase energy efficiency and energy infrastructure, the council passed a motion to allow Mayor Don Walters to enter a NOPEC Energized Community Grant agreement with Northeast Ohio Public Energy Council, Inc.
The council approved the application of Dale and Shelley Llewellyn as owners of 1949 Theiss Rd. to place this property into an agricultural district pursuant.
New Ordinances
The introduction of new ordinances was introduced following the reports. The new ordinances included Ordinance B-14 and Ordinance B-15.
Ordinance B-14 passed, which authorizes the director of public service to enter contract(s) for the RiverLoop, Riverfront Parkway enhancements and boardwalk rehabilitation, as well as the improvements to the Portage Trail bridge lighting. More discussion pertaining to the boardwalk will be discussed at the next meeting, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
Ordinance B-15 also passed, allowing the director of public service to enter a third modification of a contract with Environmental Design Group.
Miscellaneous
Before adjournment, the council welcomed Bishop Cameron Nelson from a ministry on Vincent Street. He thanked the council for their professionalism and showed appreciation for the board maintaining smooth operations for the city of Cuyahoga Falls. That concluded the council meeting.
