Hudson City Council meeting

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. Council then recited the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by roll call. All seven council members were present.

The minutes from the Aug. 11, 2026, council meeting and workshop were approved as presented and without discussion.

The crosswalk at North Hayden Parkway and Victoria Parkway was renamed “Clark Rumiser Corner” in honor of Clark Rumiser, who served as a Hudson school crossing guard for 53 years.

An honorary street-name sign will be placed at the corner where Rumiser stood for 26 years, helping ensure the safety of children in the community.

Rumiser passed away on Aug. 4 at the age of 92. His daughter and granddaughter attended the meeting to accept the award on his behalf, with many family members present in the audience to support them.

Hudson resident Ron Brubaker, founder and director of TASCforce Inc. (Trail Advocates of Summit County), addressed council to thank the city for its support of the Veterans Trail project.

The Veterans Trail is a planned 12.5-mile route connecting Akron and Hudson. Brubaker highlighted Hudson’s work to complete its 1.16-mile section, which will connect Veterans Way Park, Cascade Park and Ellsworth golf course.

Anthony Revita again addressed council regarding his ongoing litigation involving a permit he previously received to build a fence on his property.

After construction, the fence was found to encroach on the city’s right-of-way or a city easement on his property. Revita reiterated his belief that the city has not acted in good faith and said he believes he has been targeted by city staff and legal representatives.

Brezovec reported on a meeting with residents regarding the District 11 rezoning. Residents expressed concern that language in the current land development code may allow exceptions to certain restrictions.

Brezovec said the language is under review and will be addressed. He noted that any resolution may require a charter amendment and a public vote. Because no primary election is currently scheduled, the vote may need to be delayed until November 2027.

White reminded residents that a public forum on proposed restrictions for e-bike use in the city would be held Thursday. D’Eramo added that the forum would give residents an opportunity to provide input on the issue. She also noted that the final Clinton Crossings plan and play day will be held on site on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Goetz reminded attendees that she will hold a public forum at the Barlow Community Center at 7 p.m. on Aug. 31 to discuss long- and short-term rentals in Hudson.

Bird responded to comments made earlier by resident Revita regarding his fence and the city’s right-of-way. He said he wanted to provide residents with additional context, because some of the discussion had not occurred publicly.

Bird stated that Revita’s fence is in an area within the city’s right-of-way, where the city has legal control and must maintain access. He explained that a licensing agreement is required under city code to allow the fence to remain while preserving the city’s access rights.

He added that Revita is entitled to question the actions of city staff and employees who enforce city code, but said it is not acceptable to attack their character during council meetings.

The mayor encouraged Revita to sign the required licensing agreement, noting that he had signed a similar agreement when the location of his pool encroached on a city easement. The mayor explained that signing the agreement would allow Revita’s fence to remain in its current location, while granting the city the authority to access the area if needed. 

The mayor also reminded citizens to be alert and watch for children and school buses now that Hudson schools are back in session.

City Manager Thomas Sheridan announced that Art on the Green will be held Aug. 29 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Hudson Green.

Sheridan also reported that the Fire and EMS Department has transitioned to 24/7 coverage two weeks ahead of the project schedule and is already seeing benefits from the change.

The Seniors Van program begins Sept. 2 and will operate three days per week. To help introduce the service, the van will be available at City Hall during two Senior Network events to be held on Aug. 26 and Sept. 9. These events will give seniors an opportunity to learn about the program and sign up for the service.
